Satyajit Ray doent not need an introduction to Indian film lovers. His famous work " The Apu trilogy " obtained national attention when they started getting international recognitions. Apru trilogy was selcted as one of the best 100 films made ever by TIME Magazine critics. These movies throw light into the story of a child growing to manhood in modern India. His triumphs are small, his tragedies large, but Ray's filmmaking is direct in manner, simple in its means and profound in its impact (Time). After the critical and commercial success of his first film, Pather Panchali, Ray made Aparajito. This film was not very successful with the Bengali audience at the time of its first release. However, in Venice Film Festival, Aparajito was hailed as a masterpiece. His two subsequent films - Parash Pather (The Philosopher's Stone) and Jalsaghar (The Music Room) were commercial failures (satyajitray.org). His fifth and the final film of the Apu Trilogy, Apu sansar, made the critics and public happy.
The Apu trilogy is a series of three movies directed by Satyajit Ray: Pather Panchali (Song Of The Little Road), Aparajito (The Unvanquished) and Apur Sansar (The World of Apu). The movies — completed between 1955 and 1960 — were based on the novels of the Bengali author Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay. The original music for the trilogy was composed by Ravi Shankar. Despite being rooted deep in Indian culture, these films evoke a universal humanistic response. That is because the trilogy is all about human relationships.

Thanks for uploading this rare collection of the master film maker.. Great effort...
Pather Panchali was widely successful with the Bengali audience when first released. Please make sure your research is correct.
noukadubi, Thanks for your comment. May be my reference to apu triology (i didtnt mention about pather panchali there)created confusion, even though I meant Aparajito. So I have added more details about his first five films. Please check
